The Reading Academy

Sarah Mc Guire and Sarah Watchorn opened The Reading Academy in September 2015. They are both specialised reading teachers in St Oliver Plunkett, NS, Monkstown Reading School. They have a combined 35 years teaching experience. Both Sarah Mc Guire and Sarah Watchorn completed their Masters Degrees with honours in Special Education.
As the Department of Education continued to make cuts to the services received by children with dyslexia and those struggling with learning to read,they recognised the need for a highly structured reading programme to be made available to all students. They created a successful programme that specifically teaches the elements of reading using a multi-sensory approach.
