Southern Regional Assembly

The Southern Regional Assembly has 35 members, 27 of whom are nominated from the constituent local authorities and 8 due to their membership of the Committee of the Regions. The councillors are supported by the staff of the Assembly, mostly based at the Assembly headquarters in Waterford City.

Core Values
The Southern Regional Assembly is committed to a set of
values that help to define us, the way we conduct our business
and the way we serve our communities. These values serve as
our guiding principles.

Mission Statement
“The Southern Regional Assembly commits to facilitating
greater cooperation between local, regional and central
government and other state agencies. The Assembly will strive
to drive social, economic and sustainable development of the
Southern Region”

Among other responsibilities we manage the Southern and Eastern Regional Operational Programme which runs from 2014-2002. The programme is co-funded by the European Regional Development Fund and the Irish Government. The only exception to this is the Sustainable Urban Development Priority, which is funded by the European Regional Development Fund and the relevant local authority.
To date, more than 700 projects have been approved for
European Regional Development Fund co-funding under the
Southern and Eastern Regional Operational Programme, which
is managed by the Southern Regional Assembly.
