Sky Road Clifden 10K Challenge

10K Road Race in aid of the Clifden Playground Project. This fun event will take place Sunday the 1st of June 2014 and entry is €20.

Walkers will start at 1.30 and runners at 2.00 from the start line outside the Abbeyglen Castle which is a 5 minute walk from Clifden town centre.

There is also a 5k children's event. Entry fee for the children's event is €10 per family

The route will take participants on a tour of the famed SKY ROAD which is widely acknowledged as the most scenic route in all of Connemara and indeed as one of the most scenic routes in all of Ireland.

The event is open to people of all ages and all levels of fitness, from walkers out to enjoy a Sunday stroll to competitive runners looking to really challenge themselves.

This event is however not just about the running because falling as it does on the Sunday of the June Bank Holiday weekend, it also affords all involved the opportunity to experience the warm and vibrant atmosphere of Clifden on what is traditionally one of the busiest and fun filled weekends of the summer season. To that end why not make a day of it, or even better a weekend of it, and enjoy a bit Connemara's renowned hospitality in any of the bars, b&b's, hotels or restaurants for a bit of good old fashioned craic!

The race will start and finish in Clifden.

Registration will take place in the Alcock and Brown hotel at the town square in Clifden between 11.00 & 1.00 on the day of the race. Gannonsports will also be receiving hand delivered entries on the Saturday preceeding the Race.

Please note that the start line is a 5 - 10 minute run/walk from the registration point and is located outside the Abbeyglen hotel a short distance up the Sky Road.

Finally a note to all walkers, those wlaking the race will START at 1.30
