The restaurant and Take Away is located in the centre of Carlow town, at Kennedy Avenue, opposite the Ulster Bank.

Shapla Restaurant is amongst the oldest for Indian cuisine in the county. Shapla opened its doors in 1994, becoming one of the first Indian restaurants to introduce Carlow people to the taste of India in the region. At present, Shapla is one of the oldest Indian restaurants in South Leinster.

Almost everything is locally sourced (vegetables and meat), as we believe in supporting the local economy. We provide for all ages and tastes, from sweet creamy choices to hot and spicy options, along with barbeque flavours. The majority of our items are gluten free. We also provide a wide range of dairy free items. We have something that can meet every individual’s life style. We have friendly staff to create a pleasant environment in the restaurant therefore don’t be shy or hesitate to ask any member of our staff questions.
