Saint Gabriel's Community Hospital is situated on the outskirts of Schull on the Colla Road, overlooking Schull Harbour.
It was built in 1942 as an 8 bedded maternity hospital, serving the people of the Mizen Peninsula and the surrounding areas.
Since the early 1960's it has provided residential care for the older person.
The hospital has 21 beds providing Community Care, Respite, Community Support and Palliative Care.
We provide 24 hour care for our residents. Other services provided are Physiotherapy, Podiatry, Speech and Language, Dietetics and the Hairdresser calls to our residents regularly.
Mass and other religious services are celebrated in our dayroom every month.
We run an Arts for health programme every week. We also have music, song, story telling, card playing and bingo. Our residents can also enjoy a hand massage, yoga, creative art, exercise classes and Sonas sessions. The newspaper is available daily and special occasions are celebrated.
Recently, we have had two extensions which has updated the facility beautifully but these improvements have been possible because of the ongoing generosity of the local community and the support of the 'Friends of Schull Hospital' and other local organisations. For this, the staff and residents are extremely grateful.
