We are a young, dynamic and vibrant academic department at the University, and we offer a range of academic programmes in literature; Irish studies; Irish language studies (Gaeilge); technical communication and e-learning; journalism and new media studies; and creative writing at undergraduate and postgraduate level. We also have an active and energised research culture with many of our academics engaged in research on a range of issues.
We are passionate about education and our aim is to create responsible, knowledgeable, creative, collaborative, articulate and proactive graduates. Our programmes are both academically rigorous and professionally focused, with all undergraduate students undertaking at least six months of work experience in a relevant area as part of their degree.
We welcome international students as part of our study abroad programme, and we have connections with universities in the US, Australia, Canada, Asia, the UK and in Europe. We also welcome international students on international transfer and as full degree students, and we have a number of attractive scholarships available annually.
