Robotics Ireland

Welcome to Robotics Ireland - the home of the FIRST LEGO League Challenge in Ireland. The FIRST LEGO League was introduced to Ireland in 2007. The winners of the Irish competition qualify to compete in the UK and Ireland finals which are held in Loughborough University.

The first winners, in 2007, were St Gerald’s College, Castlebar who followed up their win in Ireland by winning the research prize in the UK and Ireland Finals. Their success continued in research section of the FLL Asian Open in Tokyo where 45 teams from 25 countries competed.

St Geralds repeated their win in Ireland in 2008 and were overall runners up in the UK and Ireland finals. In the European finals in Copenhagen they again won a top prize for their research project.

Having won the 2010 competition they hope to even better this success. The 2009 winners were Coláiste na Coiribe,Galway who represented Ireland at the World FLL In Atlanta, USA.

The FLL challenge in Ireland is sponsored by the Medtronic Foundation and SAP. Each company provides mentors who act as judges as well as financial support and prize money.
