More about Nourishing Therapies

My life has taken some interesting twists and turns. From studies in French, Anthroplogy and Sociology, several years spent training in Buddhist meditation and working in Buddhist monasteries in Scotland, Canada and Asia, to time spent coordinating projects in diverse social organisations from European cities to the wilds of Canada and Scotland. Finally, settling back in West Cork with my partner and two daughters. Throughout this, body work has been a constant for me since discovering yoga and massage in my 20's. I trained first in massage in Brussels followed by EMF balancing Technique in Ireland then Ear Acupuncture and Shiatsu in Scotland. After completing my Diploma in Shiatsu in Edinburgh, I went on to assist at the TSSE school for a further three years.
I first discovered Shiatsu during my studies, at which point it helped assuage my stress and anxiety and get some sleep! I have used both therapies over the years to promote and offer pain relief during the labour of my children, to centre myself when stressed or energise when tired. For my kids, I have treated sore tummies, sleep difficulties and worries, and for my family, repetitive strain injuries and immune boosting, amongst others.
On a physical level, both Shiatsu and Ear Acupunture can release physical aches and pains - stiff backs, necks, shoulders - as well as working on migraines, asthma, hormone imbalance, skin conditions, digestion, low energy, immunity, and so on. On an emotional level, they offer deep relaxation and support, a sense of 'coming home', an opportunity to process and integrate our emotions and life events.
The Combo session was born from seeing how the two therapies compliment each other - the physical touch of Shiatsu enhancing the hands off approach of Ear Acupuncture. Needles can also deepen the physical treatment of Shiatsu when treating physical ailments.
At the beginning of a treatment, a 'hara' diagnosis is carried out to determine which meridians/points need to be worked on in that moment in order to bring the body and mind back into a state of homeostasis.
Through this, I feel grateful to have found a path that both nourishes me and also has the power to offer nourishment to others!
