Leitrim Acupuncture

I studied traditional herbal medicine in Zimbabwe more than 20 years ago, since then i have also completed another course in Western Herbal Medicine, various massage diplomas and have a license to practice Traditional Chinese Medicine, Acupuncture. I have found the combination of acupuncture, massage and herbal medicine to be very effective and am able to treat a whole range of symptoms.

Ireland has a great history of herbalism and it needs to be tapped into again and people re-educated so that what was common knowledge once more becomes common knowledge. I tend to use local herbs, mainly in the form of teas and tinctures, but bring some in from the UK and Germany as needed, I harvest a lot of my own herbs to make capsules, vinegars, creams and soaps.

Many of my treatments are a combination of acupuncture and herbal medicine, where I take a full case history and make up the points prescription or herbal remedies according to the concepts of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). The acupuncture needles are single use, sterile and vacuum packed. They are much finer than the needles one would receive an injection with, being about a quarter of a millimeter in thickness. There are more than 800 acupoints in the body and different systems of utilising these points have naturally evolved. Full body acupuncture is the most common, auricular acupuncture is becoming more so, where shorter needles are inserted into points in the ear, many people associate auricular acupuncture just with addiction treatments, this is not the case and a whole plethora of problems can be helped with this micro-system. Master Tungs style is very popular and used extensively, generally as a stand alone module although many practitioners will combine it with the traditional style acupuncture.
