Kerry Cork Health Link Bus

Kerry Cancer Support Group is a fully registered charity and was founded in 2007 and has gone from strength to strength since then.
Our signature service the “Kerry Cork Health Link Bus” came to fruition in 2010 and started with a 14 seater minibus and as demand quickly grew so did the bus.
The bus we have on the road today was purchased in 2013 and travels to Cork University Hospital (CUH) every day with the exception of Christmas Day, St Stephens Day and Public Holidays. The route services Kerry and parts of Cork.
The service is completely free of charge to the service user and confidentiality is guaranteed.
We have an arrangement with CUH where our service users have a “block booking”. This means that those who travel on the bus are seen together so there are no delays and long waiting times for appointments.
The service is a vital and essential one and has been likened, by users, to a “travelling support group”.
Our funding comes from sponsorship and fundraising events held by the public around the County. Because we are a local Charity all monies stay in the County. We receive no Government or HSE funding.
With incidence of cancer set to grow (the National Cancer Registry of Ireland forecast that by 2020 the number is set to rise to over 43,000) we at Kerry Cancer Support see our services being needed even more.
By supporting the service you are making a difference to the emotional wellbeing of the users and that of their families giving them the piece of mind knowing that they have a safe, secure and supportive way to attend their treatment in CUH.
We have also set up an education and information service. We visit schools, community groups and other organisations and provide them with information around prevention, reducing their risk, screening, knowing their bodies and healthy lifestyle.
