Irish Water Safety Waterford

Swims - teach basic swimming skills, front crawl, back/breast/side strokes, skulling, inverted breast stroke, basic diving skills and basic knowledge of water safety

Safety - teach non contact rescues and the beginnings of CPR along with increasing swimming stamina.

Endurance - Works soley on Stamina of swimming, requires heavy swimming in clothes.

Rescue - Teachs contact rescues along with non contact, and when to use both. Teachs students how to tow people to safety and get out of any grips that become dangerous. Also goes into further detail of CPR teaching adult, baby and child CPR.

Pool Lifeguard - Minimum age 16 usually a 2-3 weekend course, we do a Level 2 course meaning you can work in all depts of pools, a level 1 only allows you to work in pool dept of 1.5m. usuall cost €200

Beach Lifeguard - Minimum age 17, 3 stages are done pool work, fittness run, and theory, cost aprox €200, not done in Dungarvan at present usually done in Waterford City but if numbers were good it would be held in Dungarvan. (note fittness level needs to be of very high standard to complete this award)

Instructor - available after Rescue 4, train with us and be thought teaching skills and become a trainee instructor, cost €75 though after that all things are given, books T-shirts, diarys pens etc. after 4terms and 2 stages of courses you become a fully qualified Instructor
