Should you want to celebrate a special occasion such as a wedding, family gathering, birthday party, hen party or even a corporate outing you will have the unique setting of Brooklodge Demesne for your memorable occasion. Galway Glamping can offer you a package tailored to suit your needs.
Set in the historic Blake's Estate, the site offers breathtaking surroundings for any event. It is 11 acres in size and located in a special area of conservation along the banks of the serene Abbert River. The site lends itself to many possibilities as it features many historic heritage buildings that were constructed over the centuries such the 16th Century Tower House, 18th Century Stables, and the 19th Century Chapel and Coach House. Close to becoming ruins, these structures have now been
revitalised as accommodation and social areas for our guests to enjoy during their stay. These buildings have been restored with a respect given to their past but also an eye to the future by remoulding them for modern day usage. One only needs to look across to the ivy-clad ruins of Blake
House, built in 1775, to see what was likely to be the fate of its former farmyard complex had the Boyle family not arrived.
The recent history of the site began when Kathleen, a retired nurse, and Joe Boyle, a builder by trade, purchased the then derelict site in Brooklodge Demesne, Ballyglunin back in 2006. The initial plans were to convert the site into a holiday village with numerous new buildings and
facilities. However, a halt was put to this in 2008 because of the recession. Nonetheless, this did not stop the Boyles from moving forward with the business as you see it today. Although work proceeded at a much slower pace than planned, progress was ongoing as visitor numbers & funding
increased. We often tell visitors that once a building is painted white, we consider it a finished job!
From our very first guests back in 2011 to our most recent ones, Galway Glamping continues to evolve as we learn more about the hospitality & event management industries. It has been a steep learning curve, but based on the positive feedback we are receiving, we now feel we are on the right track.
Out of all the accommodation we provide for our guests, none captures the imagination quite like the Mongolian yurt. The idea of providing yurt accommodation, and by extension choosing to go down the glamorous camping route, can be attributed to Monty Python’s Michael
Palin. On Palin’s adventures in his travel documentary, he helped the native nomadic people to set up yurts as they moved from place to place. This struck a cord with Joe, and he was determined to
import these authentic yurts to Ireland. This was none too easy and once in the country it was soon discovered that Ireland is a good deal more damp than Mongolia. The yurts as you see them today have been completely cladded with timber as our solution to solve the issues that arose from this difference in climate. Now fully watertight, the addition of electrical sockets within the yurts & the Lodge, Barn, Caravan & cabin accommodations means that guests can stay in Galway Glamping
year round! All accommodation is cosy and warm whether it be summer or winter.
Just know that glamorous camping, no matter the season, does not have to break the bank. The only mandatory expense is the accommodation, which means you can pick & choose the extras you want. The use of the fully equipped communal kitchen & showers are complimentary and there
is the allocation of an exclusive social area for groups of 15 or more.
If you would prefer not to book an activity? That’s no problem.
Would you rather cook dinner in the communal kitchen? Go right ahead. Thinking of booking two activities, the dinner & the DJ? Sure thing if you got the numbers, let me see if the activity operators & the DJ are available. And if you want to sit around the bonfire and relax over a few drinks and a sing song into the night, that sounds good to us as well! Whatever the plans are for your stay here in Galway Glamping, be assured that we will do our best to provide a memorable & enjoyable experience.
