Galloways of Lecarrow

The Department of Agriculture and Food recognizes the use of the Galloway Cattle breed as a significant conservation tool. This cattle breed is an extreme non selective grazer and browser and as such very suitable for rough "pasture". They can stay longer on one plot hence less topping and dressing is needed, which is very important on wet waterlogged soils and ground where farm machinery can't operate. The Galloway breed is a very self sufficient and undemanding low input breed especially suitable for uneconomical marginal land and maintaining conservation areas and the rural landscape.
