In 1960 a brave young Joiner opened a small building firm in Derry City, at that time Derry was a very poor city, people had very little money and fewer still owned their own homes, but still Foncy Condren took the brave step to leave a good solid job with Colhoun Bros, the firm involved in building Altnagalvin Hospita. Foncy built his business until he had over 100 employees, from joiners to bricklayers,to plasterers to labourers to tilers to roofers. Foncy then became a Maintenance Contractor to the,at the time newly formed Northern Ireland Housing Executive, as well as doing a lot of private home building, then became a Maintenance Contractor to both the Western Trust & Derry City Council while always continuing to work with private clients. Foncy sadly died very suddenly on 6th December 1992 at the age of 60,but has left a massive mark on Derry and its people. The company is now in the safe hands of Foncy’s youngest Son Michael himself an accomplished joiner and his aim is to carry on helping and maintaining derry’s properties.
If you need a good, honest builder, with 55 years of experience , give Michael a call.
