The Deaf Heritage Centre (DHC) was set up in 1999 by a group of past pupils of St Joseph’s School for Deaf Boys.
Our vision is to embrace the chequered historical attainments, cultural and linguistic developments, events and social changes of the Deaf community in Ireland.
Our aims are to collate, maintain and protect artefacts, materials and records of the Deaf community, tracing back to 200 years ago.
The objectives of DHC are to showcase collections of items at its exhibition room, to preserve data and records at its archival room and to provide education on Deaf history in Ireland.
We also seek to promote the history of the Deaf Community in Ireland and to encourage the Deaf Community to take pride in their history.
