More about College of Irish Culture & Heritage

The College of Irish Culture & Heritage is the first independent College of its type in Ireland, established in 2012. The College is committed to offering students the opportunity to experience the culture, heritage and traditions of Ireland through direct experience and theoretic study within the island of Ireland. The College is grateful for the support it has received to date from a range of agencies and individuals at Governmental level, and individuals with significant involvement with the ‘Global’ Irish Community.

The ethos of the College is one that values informal educational approaches. The campus of the College is based in the heart of the Golden Vale in Munster in Ireland, some 14 Kilometers on the east side of Limerick city. Limerick has a vibrant student population as well as a range of rich historical, cultural and heritage sites.

The College of Irish Culture & Heritage promotes cultural, historical and heritage awareness and supports students to avail of flexible opportunities to gain greater appreciation of Irish traditions, history, culture and heritage. The educational experience concentrates on collaborative learning.

Therefore, while based in the heart of the Irish Golden Vale, the whole of Ireland will be the overall learning environment. Students will be able to avail of field trips to the Rock of Cashel, Glenstal Abbey, Galway, Limerick’s King John’s Castle, Bunratty Folk Park, Cork’s famous Blarney Stone, Kilkenny Castle, The Burren and Dublin’s Trinity College, a range of Museums and the Irish Parliament buildings and will experience first hand many of the heritage sites across the country and immerse themselves in Irish song and dance.
