More about Coastguard Restaurant at the Dingle Skellig Hotel

As it's name portrays our restaurant boasts one of the finest views on the peninsula. Relax and enjoy breakfast and dinner in the spectacular setting and unique ambience of the Coastguard Restaurant overlooking Dingle Harbour and Bay and the mountains of the Iveragh Peninsula. Our Chefs take great pride in preparing for you, the finest dishes with locally sourced products and the specialities of fresh seafood landed on the quays of Dingle.

From the restaurant, to your left along the foreshore, towards the harbour entrance, there is a tower, which is a "folly" and was built in the late 1840's as famine relief. To the right of the lighthouse, which was built in 1885 at a cost of £589.00, is the entrance to a cave - known as "Nancy Brown's Parlour". It is said that the cave extends back to the old Presbytery in Dingle and it was to be the escape route for Marie Antoinette. Whatever about the French Revolution story, it is a delightful place to sit, overlooking two beautiful small beaches "Slaudeen" and "Been Bawn". It is also from here that one can view the friendliness and acrobatics of Fungi the Dingle Dolphin or alternatively, you may catch a glimpse of Fungi from where you are sitting in the Coastguard Conservatory.
