Ballyshunnock Reservoir

The reservoir is managed as a mixed fishery by Waterford & District Coarse Angling Club. It is regularly stocked with brown trout of 1lb plus as well as a healthy native population. It also contains rudd, bream, tench and rudd/bream hybrids. The lake is split by the Portlaw road and there is good access from the two car parks to three sections of the lake allowing easy access to over half a mile of bank fishing. The trout fishing season runs from March 17th to September 30th. There is a catch limit of 3 trout per angler per day and only fish of over 30 cm can be taken. All other fish must be returned alive to the water and no coarse fish can be taken or killed. Permits cost €45 per year for adults, € 15 per year for under 18s and € 15 per day. Permits are available from Centra in Kilmeaden, Waterford Angling and Outdoor Centre (John O'Brien), Waterford, Titelines in Cappoquin, Baumanns in Dungarvan and Newtown Stores, Newtown.
