Amanda Christie Designs

The name Amanda Christie comes from myself, Mandy (Amanda), and my close friend Chris (Christie). Chris and I met when we were twelve, on our first day in secondary school and became lifelong friends. Chris was very artistic and loved painting. When Chris became ill with cancer, we would spend afternoons together dabbling in all sorts of artistic endeavours and craft projects as a way of taking her mind off her treatment. We painted mannequins, chairs, made Kindle and iPad covers, jewellery, and lots more. Our mad ideas knew no bounds, but we had great fun! Sadly, Chris lost her brave battle with cancer in September 2013.

Once the mist began to lift, I realised that I had really enjoyed the ‘creative’ process and it was a ‘now or never’ moment when I decided to start my own business. I looked at all our products and decided that bespoke handmade lampshades was our best selling line, and more importantly was the area of our business that I most enjoyed.

Thanks to the wonderful support from our customers our business is growing. We are now developing our own fabric range which will enable us to feature original artwork on our shades. ‘Amanda Christie’ will continue to offer customers a unique designer product at a very affordable price.
