The WRITE STUFF

Having returned to education as a mature student (acquiring a BA in English Literature and MA in Irish Literature), and mother to three sons (eldest was then sitting Junior Cert), I developed a passion for instilling a love and appreciation of literature in others - particularly our young folk. Whilst my sons had little interest in literature, I discovered that talking about the text to them over breakfast and over lunch was in fact sinking in. When boy number one sat his Leaving Cert English exam he told me, 'Mum I could just hear you talking in my ear all through the exam.' He nailed it, much to his surprise.
So I started The WRITE STUFF. A small business which offers one-to-one English grinds and small group workshops, to help young people get a clearer understanding of their English texts. I have a particular love of Shakespeare and it delights me when I see a young person finally understanding that dreaded Shakespeare text. These grinds and workshops focus primarily on oral discussion on the text and forming individual opinions. A basic concept which develops the knowledge they have learned in school.
The WRITE STUFF also offers a writing service: CV preparation. Cover Letter writing. Application form filling. Personal Statement writing. Creative Writing skills for essay writing etc. Proof reading for essays and assignments.
As a freelance writer I contribute monthly to Irish Music Magazine and Mummy pages. I am also a blogger at North West Culture Gal.
