Live Art - Sligo

After three successful years, Performing Arts students from IT Sligo once again present a night of Live Art. On Tuesday 17h November students invite you to experience performance and art outside the traditional spaces of theatre and galleries. There will be individual pieces including video installation, photographic exhibition, storytelling, poetry, dance, and interactive installation pieces. In each work the artist has taken a fresh approach on issues such as identity, body-image, consumerism and depression. Audiences will encounter the power of words, story, bodies, and memory in unique ways.

Last year’s students who created a series of successful thought-provoking drama pieces for the annual Live Art Week say the experience has made them more committed than ever to pursuing careers in creative arts. The show attracted over two hundred spectators. This year students are looking forward to what promises to be an even bigger event.

Live Art kicks off in Lower Quay Street in the spaces of The Nest, The Fridge and The Factory at 6.30 pm Tuesday night. There will be stewards to guide audiences through the multiple spaces and programmes available. The event is FREE.
