We live in a multicultural world where languages have high importance to build bridges between people, nations and cultures.
Multiculturalism is a term used in the USA. Multicultural education attempts to eliminate cultural differences by putting emphasis on social and cultural pluralism within one nation of diversity in ethnicity and social class. Interculturalism is the term mainly used in Europe. According to this approach the aim is to understand
cultural principles connected to one another, i.e. ’to understand self and other in their own terms and from their own perspective as well as from the outsider’s perspective’ (88). It should be always the issue to create a world where all individuals dare to communicate with one another and give a helping hand when needed just like small communities and subcultures do (Kramsch 1993).
