Daisy Cottage Donegal

Daisy Cottage is a 200 year old house situated in the centre of the village of Dunkineely which is between the towns of Donegal Town and Killybegs.

The village has a grocery store, pubs, a diner, and shops within a short walk from Daisy Cottage. Nearby there are sandy beaches and lots of beautiful scenery.

Eating out in the area is a great experience with so many excellent restaurants within a very short drive of Daisy Cottage. The restaurants serve local produce and there are many serving freshly caught fish.

We renovated the house fully in 2008 to make it comfortable and safe for our guests. The house was re-wired and re-plumbed and we included fire alarms, house alarm and carbon monoxide detector.

The beds are all super comfortable with good quality cotton bedding and each guest has 2 pillows. We supply 2 large bath sheets, 2 hand towels and facecloths for each guest. We also supply beach towels.

We have mobile broadband access and we supply a laptop for our guests to use. There is Sky TV and freeview TV. We have a stereo ipod dock (with radio) together with a an ipod speaker incorporating charger.

For guests with limited mobility we have a downstairs bedroom (ground floor) which has a spacious wet room en suite with grab bar at the loo and sturdy shower seat if needed. All the light switches are at lower level so easily reached by a guest in a wheelchair.

The large kitchen/diner is the heart of the home and is superbly fitted out with everything the cook needs to prepare a home cooked meal. The kitchen area has bespoke kitchen units topped with locally sourced Donegal granite.

In the kitchen there is a large side by side fridge-freezer which dispenses ice and chilled, filtered water. There is a dishwasher, an electric hob, fan assisted oven, microwave, four slice toaster, electric kettle, excellent knives and chopping boards, all manner of coffee jugs, lots of matching dishes, cutlery, and glasses for wine, soft drinks, spirits, champagne and Irish coffee.

In the utility area there is a washing machine, two tumble dryers, steam iron, ironing board, and pegs for the outdoor washing line.

All our bedding and towels are washed in non-bio detergent so that those with allergies can use them.

For relaxing in the evening our guests can chose a book to read, watch any of our DVDs, listen to our CDs, play board games such as chess or draughts, enjoy a game of cards, watch TV in either the living room or kitchen, have a game of pool, air hockey or darts in our games loft or take the 12 steps or so to the tiny village bar next door for a jar with the locals.
